Flash Accessories

I've added a Recommended label to those items I personally recommend.

  • Sto-fen OMNIBOUNCERecommended.  Amazing little device that diffuses the flash output.  It gives you greater frame coverage & using it at a 45 degree angle helps soften the shadows.  I used this device in my early Nikon shooting days.  Later Nikon starting including a similar device with their higher-end flashes & would automatically adjust the flash settings when it was on (very nice touch).  After switching to Canon, I've returned to the OMNIBOUNCE.  I highly recommend this device.  It is small, simple, & no Velcro necessary!

  • LumiQuest.  I've also used the LumiQuest 80-20 & LumiQuest Pocket Bouncer.  These work well too.  The 80-20 is a nice device which directs 20% of the output to the front & 80% upwards to bounce off a ceiling or other reflective surface.  The Pocket Bouncer is useful where there are no or high ceilings.  There are 2 drawbacks to these devices.  First, be prepared for some strange looks.  Forget about any desires to be inconspicuous.  With your flash in the vertical position & these devices sitting even higher, this is one very tall contraption.  The other drawback is that you must put Velcro strips on your flash unit to mount these products.  To get around this, I found that a heavy rubber band also works reasonably well
