 Hurricane Katrina

I had the opportunity to go on a Hurricane Katrina relief trip from September 17-25, 2005.  We spent a week in Mississippi which took a direct hit from the storm.  We spent most of our days in Hattiesburg, MS helping residents remove trees & debris from their property.  First Presbyterian Church in Hattiesburg served as our home base.  We spent one day in Biloxi, MS on the Gulf Coast.  Biloxi and other cities on the Gulf Coast were subject to the large storm surge that were washed away many buildings.  While in Biloxi we visited the food distribution center hosted at the First Presbyterian Church in Biloxi.  Pictures 1501-1618 are from Hattiesburg, MS.  Pictures 1654-1724 are from Biloxi, MS.  Picture 1740 is from Petal, MS.  Members at both churches who had damages to their own homes still found time to help others.  We are very grateful for their hospitality.

I apologize for the quality & composition of these shots since I only had limited time & equipment.  However, hopefully you can appreciate the amount of destruction left by the hurricane.  It will take many years for the areas impacted by the storm to recover.
